&lt;p&gt;In a recent interview with &lt;a title="The Nine Eyes of Google Street View" href="http://www.artfagcity.com/2009/08/12/img-mgmt-the-nine-eyes-of-google-street-view/" target="_blank"&gt;Art Fag City&lt;/a&gt;, Rafman identified a unique quality of Street View images, which is that their automated nature removes the relationship between photographer and subject, imbuing the images with a powerful sense of detachment. “[The images] can give us a sense of what it feels like to be observed simultaneously by everyone and by no one, to have everything recorded, but no particular significance accorded to anything.”&lt;/p&gt;
